Shadowspirit

With a loud snap the twig breaks under my left foot.

Screaming the creature turns around in front of me. I feels his gaze upon me although it’s face isn’t visible. It makes my hair stand up on the back of my neck. Goose bumps appear on my bare arms as the invisible gaze pierces my soul and despite the balmy spring-night I’m shivering.

The shadowspirit shakes its head. As long it stand still its body fades away in the darkness between the trees only to become visible as its moves. As a shadow between shadows. On my guard I tighten my grip on the hilt of my sword. The point of my unwieldy, two-handed weapon points towards the ground. Hoping that my clumsy posture and burdensome sword-strikes will mislead my opponents, but this isn’t an ordinary opponent. It will not underestimate me. It underestimates nobody.

The shadowspirit one of the creatures Xuno faces during her journeys throughout the lands of Ianna and Terria. As I’m reading through Xuno will try to put the enemies Xuno faces into stat bloks.

Xuno has recently been release and is available in any (online) bookstore or the Celtica’s webshop and is written by my wife Maite Donker.

A roughly humanoid shape with beastlike like features leaps from shadows landing on all four legs. Its misty shadowy body radiates an unnatural cold.

Special Abilities
Freeze (Ex) A shadowsprit can hold itself so still it blends in with the shadows around him.
Cold (Ex) The body of shadowspirit is like a freezing cold mist, dealing 1d6 points of damage with its touch. Creatures attacking a shadowsprit with unarmed strikes or natural weapons take this same cold damage each time one of their attacks hits.
Manifesting Attacks (Ex) A shadowspirits attack count as physical attacks and don’t bypass any physical protections such an armor and shields like normal incorporeal creatures. This prevent a shadowspirit to fly but doesn’t affect its ability to pass through solid objects.
Disease (Su) Spirit Rot: Bite–injury; save Fort DC 18; onset 2d8+8 hours; frequency 1/day; effect 2 points of Constitution damage and target is fatigued; cure 2 consecutive saves. The save DC is Charisma-based. A shadowspirits bite at first seems like a clean wound but as de disease takes hold it causes a horrible withering of the flesh, resulting in a foul festering wound.
